PERSEPHONE ZOOMED 2
PERSEPHONE contemplates her kingdom, next to her husband Hades. A feared Goddess, no human dares to say her name. She’s about to start her yearly path to meet Demeter, who longs to meet her daughter, and turn Winter into Spring. Birth and Death. Persephone faces her own fears, but begins her walk - and throws herself into the mysteries of the unknown, a desired undisclosed magical night where infinite possibilities lurk before every step.
PERSEPHONE ZOOMED 2 is a work whose concept was created during the COVID 19 first lockdown. Synthesizers create an unsettling bed for the sound drama between the three characters to unfold. Each musician was recorded separately, not knowing what the others were playing, and rehearsed through an intense process of guided improvisations and adapting Butch Morris's conduction technique. Visual direction is by renowned Frank Scheffer, giving a poignant and distinct identity for the work.
